David Gagnon is the director of Field Day, an award winning, interdisciplinary team of education researchers, media designers, software engineers, artists, and storytellers at the Wisconsin Center for Education Research, University of Wisconsin – Madison. In addition to National Science Foundation (NSF) support, recent grants include a multi-year award from Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) to promote and study the use of games and mobile media in the classroom, resulting in a statewide personal development program for educators and a collection of online science learning games. Gagnon has been the lead designer, researcher, or producer on more than a dozen educational gaming projects, currently played about 1.5 million times yearly.
