Heather Swan

Title: Heather Swan, lecturer, Environmental Literature and Writing, UW-Madison

Heather Swan, PhD, MFA is the author of Where Honeybees Thrive: Stories from the Field, winner of the 2018 Sigurd F. Olson Nature Writing Award. Her nonfiction has appeared in Aeon, ISLE, Minding Nature, Belt, Resilience, About Place, Basalt, Edge Effects, and elsewhere. Her chapbook of poems, The Edge of Damage, was published by Parallel Press, and her poetry has appeared in such journals as Poet Lore, The Raleigh Review, and Midwestern Gothic. Before she became a teacher of writing and environmental studies at UW-Madison, Swan made her living as an artist. She also keeps bees.
