Zuzana Burivalova

Assistant Professor, Nelson Institute and Forest and Wildlife Ecology, UW-Madison

Assistant professor in the Nelson Institute and Department of Forest and Wildlife Ecology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Zuzana Burivalova is a conservation scientist and ecologist, focusing on tropical forest biodiversity. She received her PhD in 2015 from ETH Zurich, after which she was a NatureNet fellow at Princeton University and The Nature Conservancy. She researches which conservation strategies succeed and fail in tropical forest conservation, and uses new tools, such as bioacoustics, where traditional field methods aren’t sufficient. Burivalova works with scientists, journalists, the industry, and NGOs to provide cutting-edge science for biodiversity protection.
