David Kolodziejski

David Kolodziejski is a trained geographer and a current master’s student in the Environmental Observation and Informatics Program in the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He is passionate about our natural resources and how we interact with the landscape, his primary focus is combining spatial analytics with machine learning algorithms to develop solutions to the complex environmental challenges that we are facing today.

He has five years of professional experience working in the geospatial industry and holds a bachelor’s degree in geography, a minor in mathematics, and a geographic information systems certificate from the University of the Wisconsin–Whitewater.

As a master’s student in the Environmental Observation and Informatics Program, Kolodziejski and his colleagues have worked with Marathon County, Wisconsin, to identify water resource limitations and opportunities throughout the county. His cohort obtained the observations using GIS and remote sensing techniques to provide action-orientated recommendations for their upcoming Groundwater Protection Plan.
