Susan Hedman

Visiting Scholar, University of Wisconsin–Madison

Susan Hedman is a University of Wisconsin–Madison Law School visiting scholar and is affiliated with the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies. Her research focuses on U.S.-Canadian governance of the Great Lakes ecosystem. Over a long career devoted to environmental protection, Susan served as U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Great Lakes regional administrator and Great Lakes national program manager in the Obama Administration, as environmental counsel in the Office of the Illinois Attorney General, as first legal officer at the United Nations Compensation Commission, and as an attorney for many environmental groups.

She holds a PhD from the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, an MA from the La Follette School of Public Affairs, and a JD from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
